MRG Conference 2018: Bratislava

Sponsors v31.jpg

The Call for Papers is now closed

By three methods we may learn wisdom: first, by reflection, which is noblest; second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.

The pursuit of wisdom has occupied humankind for eons.  For the past 54 years, the Media Research Group has created wonderful opportunities through its evening meetings and conferences to celebrate and share all we have learned together as an Industry.  In November the MRG International Conference, to be held in historic Bratislava, will be another opportunity to reflect upon recent work and pass on your hard found wisdom.

The MRG International Conference is a chance for our industry to come together and discuss the key issues that we are currently facing, provoke debate and share best practice. We are looking for speakers, so if you have something new you would like to present, or an opinion on any relevant issues we would love to hear from you.  We hope your paper submissions will be noble in their aspirations with perhaps a hint of bitter experience thrown in for good measure and if you're going to imitate, make sure you stay the right side of Copyright Law.

Our theme of 'Reflections' can be liberally interpreted, for example you could simply look back over recent projects to tease out key findings and reflect upon lessons learned or perhaps you would like to muse upon what it would be like to be in 2028 and reflect back on the key events and trends of the past decade.

We want papers that will inform and stimulate, from any area of media research.  Consider different formats: would your paper work as a soapbox rant or a '10 slides in 10 minutes' presentation or could it be included in a more informal workshop session?  We're hoping to keep to a varied programme and so an idea of timings for your proposal would be useful.  As a guide, main papers should be no longer than 18 minutes.

At this stage we need an outline only, giving an overview of the topic and a brief explanation as to how it addresses our themes and why you think it will interest MRG members.  Please include the name of the speaker(s) and ensure that the PDF file is given a name that tells us whose paper it is (if we get 100 files called 'MRGsubmission.PDF' it gets very confusing).  Please note that the MRG will publish all papers after the conference (available initially to attendees only) so please only submit a paper if you are happy for us to do so.

We'll be announcing the programme by the end of July.

Remember there is no discount for speakers, so book as soon as you can to benefit from the early bird prices.
