The World Cup may be coming to an end, but the festivities have not.

Keep the summer going by coming to the July MRG evening meeting. 

We have two fantastic papers: Youview show us never been seen before insights from their set top box data showing how viewers access different types of programmes and channels, and Kantar Media show how utilising multiple methods and data sources can unlock new insights into key customers and markets.

1. A TV Journey: Using set top box data to understand television behaviours

YouView is a hybrid digital television platform powering more than three million set-top boxes and digital devices across the UK. The platform backhauls 370 million anonymous data points a day. Nour Shreim from YouView will provide insight into the wealth of behavioural data collected from their devices, looking at viewers interaction with the user interface and how viewers discover and consume content across Linear TV, PVR and On Demand. She will discuss emerging trends in terms of on-demand and linear viewing, the most prominent EPG journeys and how audiences are recording and watching content. Using current examples of content consumption, she will demonstrate how users binge / watch series by mixing different viewing patterns, and how long-term programmes such as Love Island and Great British Bake Off gain / lose audiences year-on-year.

2. Holiday Pioneers: Understanding Emerging Passions

Understanding niche markets and brand choices is a continual challenge for marketeers, and this is no different for the travel industry and understanding our holiday habits. Introducing their latest research, James Burke and Anna Salter from Kantar Media will talk us through their proprietary study, utilising a combination of TGI attitudinal data together with social media listening, online forums and bespoke survey tools. This pioneering research examining emerging trends within the travel industry provides some fascinating findings and helps to provide more understanding on not only this key market but also showing what can be possible through the integration of mixed method approaches.
