Magnetic is at an interesting stage; having developed a strong foundation in terms of a body of compelling insight work as well as a number of highly engaging event platforms. This will be a key hire who will be instrumental in evolving, refining and amplifying the existing narrative. We are looking for a candidate who is both passionate and rigorous in their approach and thinking. We are keen to layer in a fresh perspective to take us to the next stage of our evolution.

THE ROLE

Senior insight exec/ Insight Manager

Opportunity to join a small team of insight and marketing professionals committed to building a compelling narrative, that defines the role magazine media plays in today's modern marketing communications plan. A support to the head of insight; conceiving, implementing and amplifying a strong body of work that demonstrates magazine media's unique ability to build brands and engage consumers across a range of platforms. Delivering evidence at a pace from existing insights and desktop tools as well as new projects and initiatives from scratch. An ability to translate and distil insights into useful bite sized nuggets and compelling stories for the Magnetic website, social media, email newsletters and face to face presentations and conferences. An opportunity to work closely with our magazine stakeholder partners via insight board meetings and a range of shared initiatives. The ideal candidate would be equally comfortable with highly focused desk based analysis as well as being out in the field communicating insights at face to face meeting with media agencies, publishers and clients.

The successful candidate would be equipped with the following skills

Essential skills

Data analysis - Fascination with exploring data sets to discover insight nuggets. Solid understanding of industry currencies and ability to use industry tools and software (ABC's, NRS and AMP, Comscore, TGI, Ad Dynamics, social media tools)

Highly numerate - confident with numbers, data and sampling. Comfortable working with statistical analysis approaches (factor analysis, modelling etc, our suppliers typically deliver this work but we need to be able to communicate the insights)

Project management - accomplished multi-tasker and ability to manage multiple workstreams. Practiced with all elements of project management from timelines and supplier management to problem solving and quality control, as well as questionnaire design and sampling methodology where applicable.

Self-starter - ability to create own momentum, can work at a pace, strong at prioritisation, comfortable working in an agile working environment where overseeing of workflow is minimal

Nice to have

Design skills - ability to translate insights into visually compelling assets for social media, websites and presentations

Diverse talents and interests - ability and appetite to flex into other areas of specialism, open to a job role that straddles multiple disciplines, interest in social media, events, marketing, design and digital

Storytelling - ability to gather data from a wide range of sources to craft a compelling story

Presenting - some experience of presenting insights and an appetite to do more

Methodological range - experience of a wide range of methodologies, or a curiosity about discovering new and innovative approaches 

THE CANDIDATE

We are looking for the following attributes;

  • A minimum of 4 years' experience in a media research environment, with direct involvement in commissioning, analysis and/or presentation of research data - including market research, data analytics, media currency data, industry trends and advertising effectiveness
  • Excellent communication skills - including writing, presenting and data visualisation - and a flair for storytelling
  • A real and demonstrable interest in the role of media within the evolving digital landscape
