Job description

BARB is the official source of television viewing figures in the UK. It continually develops new ways of measuring what the UK is watching.

We are on the verge of launching Dovetail Fusion, which delivers cross-device viewing data derived from a fusion of BARB panel data and a census count of online TV viewing data. This leads to an enhanced requirement for us to help our existing customer base understand the scope of BARB's data and to work with broadcasters to help them participate in these new reporting services.

To this end, we are appointing an Insights Manager role, whose main focus will be working with our existing customer base to help them understand and make best use of BARB data.

The successful candidate should have knowledge and experience of analysing and interpreting BARB data and an ability to present and explain complex issues. We expect excellent written and verbal communication skills, including in a presentation environment, while experience of delivering training sessions would be valuable. Some understanding of tagging/analytics processes will be useful, but not critical.

The Insights Manager will report to Rhiannon Griffiths, Head of Strategic Developments. We also anticipate this role will work closely with the research team led by Simon Bolus, Research Director, and our Communications Manager.

The role is complementary to the Client Services Manager role, held by Sarah Mowbray, who is responsible for our top-line revenue target, managing the introduction of new clients and administering adjustments to channel reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver training sessions to enhance client and agencies' knowledge and understanding of BARB data and how it can be used to generate insight.
  • Conduct client and agency roadshows to update subscribers on current and upcoming products and services.
  • Respond to client questions about BARB methodology and research issues.
  • Work closely with the Technical Manager (Paul Smith) to brief broadcasters (both research and technical development teams) on requirements for inclusion in new measurement systems such as Dovetail Fusion.
  • Conduct deep-dive analysis of BARB data in order to support the Communications Manager and other members of the BARB executive team.
  • Ensure that optimal use is made of Dovetail Fusion data through testing and evaluating analyses of data against statistical and known research-design limitations.
  • Educate existing BARB clients on the analyses opportunities and limitations of the measurement systems that BARB provides.
  • Field and respond to data and methodology related queries and challenges from users and subscribers.
  • Uncover new requirements arising from broadcasters, agencies and clients and raise with the BARB executive for consideration in the development of the product roadmap.
  • Support the Communications Manager & Executive Assistant in ensuring that BARB has an up-to-date client contact database is available for use across the business.

The role is a full-time role, based in central London. The salary is commensurate with experience.
