Role:

This role is key to Zenith’s offering as a strategic and insight led communications planning agency. Working across a range of UK clients, it will be your responsibility to deliver insight leadership in the form of consultancy, recommendations, research project delivery and actionable insights. Your aim will be to deliver direct revenue via out-of-scope research projects and indirectly via client delivery as part of the fee paying services provided.  To ensure this happens you will need to embed yourself with the allocated clients’ businesses by working closely with the relevant planning teams, and crucially, developing direct relationships with the client’s marketing and/or insight teams.

You will need to be an expert on media research issues and be able to form clear opinion on a wide range of consumer and media developments and communicate these with clients.

A big part of this role will involve working on pitches. Insight development is a fundamental element in any pitch and the candidate will need to deliver best in class primary research and viewpoints from secondary research to create inspirational insights to support the strategic recommendations.

Team/Department Profile:

Working in the Insight team, this is part of dynamic team of Insight generalists and specialists.  The team comprises 8 people who work across the range of Zenith clients including Three, Carpetright, Aviva, RBS, H&M, Macmillan and Coty.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

  • Build strong relationships with Planning and Strategy teams, being their main point of contact on key clients
  • Responsible with Head of Insight and Insight Director for high quality response to briefs from planners & clients – ensuring the key insights and stories are drawn out
  • Develop a good working knowledge of our proprietary research tools, inspiring planners and strategists to use insight methods, tools and systems throughout the planning process 
  • Liaise with clients (both internal and external) as the main day-to-day contact on projects, using insight and project knowledge to effectively and appropriately contribute to client meetings and presentations
  • Help identify knowledge gaps for clients to then recommend insight projects to help fill these gaps – considering a multi-layered methodology and/or combination of traditional and innovative methodologies
  • Increase the revenue of the department by being commercially minded, and effectively selling in proposals
  • Be confident to lead on paid client projects (both quantitative and qualitative methodologies including brand tracking, online communities, creative testing) from the initial proposal through to project design and delivery
  • Keep up to date with developments in insight and applying these to the Zenith product offering
  • Day to day management of at least one Insight Executive and Manager, ensuring their development, and the output they produce is accurate and insightful
  • Working with the wider Data team to develop joint propositions and engage clients and Planning/Strategy in data solutions
  • Work enthusiastically and efficiently on new business pitches (supporting and leading), helping the team deliver insights that direct our approach and strategy
  • Build relationships with media owners and industry bodies

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A genuine curiosity and passion to understand consumer motivations
  • Strong project management, analytical, and number skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative methodologies with the ability to manage and analyse quantitative surveys
  • Understanding and experience of using other insight tools and techniques e.g. social listening, Google suite, qualitative analysis
  • Familiarity with industry currencies and tools e.g. BARB, TGI, IPA Touchpoints, Telmar, YouGov Brand Index
  • An understanding of the various different data channels, including digital
  • An ability to create a story from several different data sources
  • A drive to provide innovative client solutions
  • The ability to work in collaboration with the planning team and strategists
  • The ability to develop and maintain relationships across the agency as well as with clients
  • Proactive, seeking out new avenues of insight for clients
  • Previous media agency experience preferred
