The Best Papers from Bratislava

Start the year as you mean to go on, forget about the January blues and come to the January MRG Evening meeting.

And do we have a treat for you.  Off the back of the incredibly successful MRG International conference in Bratislava, we have the three best papers as voted for by delegates, lined up to speak.

Power of Voice (download here)

Kathryn Saxon (Head of Research, Wavemaker) presents the Lynne Robinson Award for Best Paper, The Power of Voice.  Outside of looking at its use and appeal, Wavemaker embarked on a neuroscience based study, so far encompassing over 1,200 respondents to understand the importance and power of having a suitable brand voice.  Through examples and responses, Kathryn will outline the key guidelines for clients to consider when delivering their brand voice through voice assistant technology.  Not one to be missed.

Reflections of a Black Mirror (download here)

In a year of collaboration, Martin Greenbank (Head of Advertising Research, Channel 4) and Glenn Gowen (Head of Commercial Research, ITV) present some key reflections from their award winning research Project Firefly.  By combining and sharing their respective VOD player registrations, ITV and Channel 4 were able to observe a more complete fingerprint of a respondents journey between linear and BVOD, and critically compare this against perceptions and claims.  The result of this study has allowed both ITV and Channel 4 to dispel some commonly repeated media myths, often based on sample of one behaviours or digital over-claims.  The audience will be left with a feeling that the dystopian futures often presented by Charlie Brooker need not apply to media research, and how rigorous research projects will continue to have pride of place in future media investment decisions.

What Motivates Entrepreneurial Minds? (download to follow)

Every day Credit Suisse work with wealthiest, most successful entrepreneurial minds around the world. Despite this Credit Suisse grew curious, did they really understand the real people behind this success? What makes them tick and why? What defines their mindset and what could they learn from a better understanding of it?

Bloomberg Media and Ipsos Mori set out on an ambitious journey to analyse and understand the entrepreneurial mindset of more than 300 U/HNW successful leaders from a diverse range of industries and backgrounds.

Phil Robinson (Head of Data Science & Insights, Bloomberg) and Katherine Jameson Armstrong (Head of Qualitative, Ipsos Connect) will dispel myths about this exclusive hard to reach audience, unearth common behaviours, and using Ipsos Mori's Censydiam Framework identify their underlying human motivations behind business success.

Most importantly, they will empower you with the knowledge to unlock your own entrepreneurial mind.
