We are a digitally led entertainment and media company that creates and brings brilliant content to audiences, wherever, whenever and however they choose; connecting with millions of people every day.

Within ITV, the Commercial team is responsible for bringing in ~£2bn of advertising to help fund that programming. And the way we make that money is changing. We have our own DSP - Planet V. We have hundreds of new-to-TV, digital first advertisers discovering how effective our products can be for their business. We even have our own Ventures arm to invest in them.

But we need to go further. So we are looking for a Digital Effectiveness Senior Manager to grow our new Measurement Innovation group. As the name suggests, the purpose of the team is to create and scale measurement products for our advertisers that capture the value we create for them through their TV ads, VOD ads, sponsorships and partnerships.

The group has a strategy, a plan and a budget, and is forecast to grow in the coming 1-2 years, so this is an opportunity to join at the end of the beginning - after the setup has been done, but before we’ve got truly stuck in.

Better still, this measurement group sits within the wider Client Strategy and Planning team. This is a broad church of ex-strategists, ex-planners and other marketing specialists we have hired to reflect and advise clients on the modern media ecosystem and help them create campaigns that cut through competitive clutter, harness popular culture, build credibility, drive fame for their brands and lead to transformational results for their businesses.

We work to foster long term relationships with advertisers - drawing on ITV knowledge, expertise and resources to help answer questions on marketing issues as diverse as: the power of TV, the interplay between channels, comms planning, brand positioning, audience targeting, measurement, effectiveness and best practice.

Where else would you find cultural strategy, marketing strategy, data, insight and effectiveness all working together like this?

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide advertisers and agencies with best-practice measurement consultancy
  • Maintain a deep knowledge of competing measurement products and approaches
  • Create opportunities to innovate in measurement with advertisers, especially for business outcomes
  • Pursue those opportunities through to successful completion - making sure that the measurement and experiments (if using) are implemented correctly on both advertiser and ITV sides of the fence
  • Understand the internal landscape of what’s possible to measure and deploy, and coming up with ideas for how to make it better
  • Educate ITV Commercial in talking to clients about (digital) effectiveness measurement and reporting
  • Engage with ITV digital ad sales people in both London and the Regions, to keep them informed and understand what they are hearing from advertisers
  • Engage with the Data, Audiences, Marketing teams at ITV to build a group of ‘fellow travellers’ in marketing measurement
  • Engage the wider digital marketing measurement community (outside ITV) to identify potential new solutions/products we could use to measure ITV campaigns

 

To be considered for this opportunity you will need to demonstrate the following skills:

Minimum role criteria:

  • Knowledge of how to measure the impact of marketing on business success across advertisers
  • Knowledge of how to set up, use and report on performance of different digital advertising products
  • Ability to work quickly, accurately and fluently with data
  • Demonstrated capability to pick up new, unfamiliar tools and techniques at speed and with curiosity
  • Proven ability to make the complex simple, and explain technical work to non-technical people
  • Resilience/energy - able to maintain drive and focus over long, challenging project timelines

The Key role criteria is as follows:

  • Knowledge of more advanced topics in measurement such as incrementality, A/B testing, MTA
  • Familiarity with process of setting up campaigns for advertising channels like radio, posters, TV
  • Experience in discussing budget allocation, audience selection and strategy with advertisers
  • Experience tinkering with HTML and Javascript to get campaign tracking and measurement working
  • Creativity - being able to think laterally about data and measurement challenges and figuring out ways to do things that seem impossible
  • Collaboration - this isn’t the kind of role where you can do everything on your own - experience of bringing other people with you is vital & communication across all levels is key
